There is evidence to suggest that Yo Yo Games may be looking into selling user’s amateur games on their website in the future. Mark Overmars has let us know that if this does indeed happen, the user will be expected to share the profits with Yo Yo Games.
While this is better than the previously discounted rumor that ‘Yo Yo Games would simply choose games to sell and keep the profits’ that was floating around (most likely as a result of the slightly shocking terms of service draft that was leaked), it still poses a question as to whether it is better to try and sell your game on your own site. Sure, you will not get the traffic you might do on YoYo Games, but you would have complete control over the sale and more importantly, 100% of the profit.

Would be a nice service though…. It’s better to share the profit with YoYo and have your game sold 100 times than to sell it yourself and only manage to distribute 10 copies.

Well for a small-time gamemaker, this would be an excellent deal. He would never be able to make as big of a profit as Yoyogames would be able to for them. Lets say he sold 10 of his games himself and got $4 each time. He would get $40. If Yoyogames sells 60 of his games and he got $1.50 for each game, he would get $90 in total. Plus, he doesn’t have to worry about advertising or anything like that.

I think its a good idea, for people who don’t wish to deal with setting something up like this on their website.
But a lot of amateurs (can I use the term “noob” here, I don’t know) will be trying to sell there games, and I really doubt that people will buy them. I mean, I’d only buy a few of the gm games I have.

It is a good idea for game makers like me (just a hobbie) because you could make some of money, if I just tried to sell my game on my site nobody would buy it for a couple of reasoms:
1.Who would trust a sute that nobody heard abought
2.People would just think i am a… noob because I use freewebs for my site, and thats not true I use freewebs because I don’t have money for a differn’t host, and I just make games for a hobbie.
3.Becaus I can’t spell worth a flip (lol)
So I think this would be great!

I dont think yoyo games should be able 2 sell our games without the game creator agreing to let them do so…

And if the game contains copyrighted sprited (other files too) it can’t be sold…

Well, it would definitely make sense for yoyo to get part of the profits if it was sold on their site. After all, they would be providing the hosting, publicity, etc. and they already provide the tools. So I don’t think it would be a problem at all.

Well considering ‘Yoyo games’ own Gm its only fair, but unless you make a really good game you probebly won’t get anything for it.
